Glass blocks are widely used as a construction and architectural material and can replace common bricks.
Inside they have an air gap and their typical shape is that of a rectangle, with the most common dimension of 19x19x8cm.
In addition to the common glass blocks, there are also corner (90 degree) and terminal ones. The terminal glass blocks, single or double terminals, with a curved surface of one or two sides respectively, are used at the edge of the wall.
The main advantages of glass blocks are the following:

- Great impact resistance and safety
- They do not need plastering and painting
- They replace windows where prohibited
- They provide ventilation either with the special metal windows which are retractile and instead of pane contains glass blocks either with the ventilation glass blocks (ventiblock) or with the plastic windows
